Mill Common – Path and Step Resurfacing

Published: 04 July 2025

Monmouthshire County Council report that they have appointed a specialist contractor, Enviroculture, to carry out the resurfacing of paths and steps at Mill Common and report that  Enviroculture brings a strong track record, having delivered access improvements for the RSPB and other high-value nature sites.

The work will begin within the next week and will be delivered in two phases:

  1. Phase One will focus on areas where tree felling has already been completed, with the aim of finishing this section before the school summer holidays.
  2. Phase Two will follow once the remaining tree work is completed later in the year.

This phased approach has been chosen to minimise disruption during the school holidays and to avoid the challenges posed by autumn and winter weather, which can be less suitable for this type of construction work.

Mindful of the wildlife activity in the area steps shall be taken to ensure that disturbance is kept to a minimum. Work will be limited to the path edges, and the contractor will remain vigilant to avoid any harm to local wildlife.
