COMMUNITY COUNCIL MAKES GRANT TO LOCAL BROWNIE PACK

Twice a year, the Community Council allocates a small pot of money to assist local groups and organisations. In this half year (April - September 2017) members were pleased to support the local 1st & 2nd Magor Brownie packs by presenting them with a cheque for £500 towards the cost of a coach to take the Brownies to the summer outward bound camp activities in Swindon.

Chair of the Community Council, Cllr Donna James said "We are always pleased to support local organisations especially groups that encourage, develop and educate young children, affording them the opportunity to meet up and learn together in a safe environment."

Brown Owl Andrea Rodley said "We are overwhelmed! Sine we paid for the bus we have had to be careful with what we spend, as it was a big chunk out of our savings - so it is wonderful to have that pressure lifted. It now means that we can be a bit more generous with the activities we provide for the Brownies."

The Community Council also, on a regular basis, supports the Monmouthshire Citizens Advice Bureau, two charity organisations (Wales Air Ambulance and Severn Area Rescue Association), several youth provision projects and contributes towards the maintenance of the two local churchyards.

The closing date for receipt of applications for financial assistance in the second half of the financial year is 31st January 2018 and a copy of the Financial Assistance Policy, and Application form can be obtained from the Clerk.
