On Sunday, it was a privilege for the Town Council to welcome local volunteers to a service of thanks hosted by Magor Baptist Church and St. Mary’s Magor, followed by an afternoon tea. We were delighted to be joined by Deputy Lieutenant, Kate Beavan and Edward Watts MBE, Chair of Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations.
The Town Council celebrated the contribution of volunteers and their service to the communities of Magor with Undy. We are a small community with the most incredible volunteer base.
Every day, residents give of their time and make a difference to the lives of others through volunteering. The impact of these contributions to the wellbeing of our community is not easily described or measured.
The credit for almost everything that happens in our wonderful community must go to all our extraordinary volunteers. Kind, incredible people who day after day, week after week and year after year, give of their time in the service of others.
I wish to offer my personal thanks and thanks on behalf of the Town Council for everything you do.
In the words of His Majesty King Charles III,
“They (volunteers) are an essential backbone of our society, a call to us all to serve one another; to love and care for all.”
