CHANGES IN YOUR TOWN
Monmouthshire County Council making some temporary changes to some of Monmouthshire’s towns and smaller settlements. This is to make them safe for everyone to return and support the local shops and businesses. This may include some of the following – road closures, reduced speed limits, pavement signage for social distancing, some barriers.
These changes will be subject to an ongoing trial period. Mon CC will be seeking live feedback and will tweak, add to, change or remove measures as appropriate. They will learn quickly and adapt as they go to improve based on feedback.
If some of the changes are successful, Mon CC will consider making them permanent, following future consultation. Those that aren’t will be amended and changed accordingly.
You can let Mon CC know your feedback via Monty, their chatbot – click on the icon on the bottom right hand corner of this page.
Mon CC are making some temporary changes to make Magor safe for our communities to return and support our local shops and businesses. A fantastic marketing strategy has already started.
Phase 1 will see some of the kerbside parking on The Square removed to necessitate the creation of widened footways to facilitate social distancing, queuing and/or outdoor seating. Deliveries will be provided for.
Phase 2 comprises a 20mph zone covering the whole of Magor village, except the B4245, to create a safer environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
All of the changes are part of a trial. Mon CC will be seeking live feedback and will tweak, add to, change or remove measures as appropriate. They will learn quickly and adapt to improve things based on feedback. If some of the changes are successful, Mon CC will consider making them permanent, following future consultation.
